Gaining weight

I’m planning on slowly gaining 10lbs or so over the next several months. I’d like to do 1 or 2 strength blocks during that time but my concern is that during those times a greater proportion of the weight I gain will be fat. Should a lifter eat at maintenance during periods that aren’t as highly focused on hypertrophy or are the heavier loads used in a strength block likely enough to make up for the decrease in volume? Should I just run Hypertrophy blocks until my bulk is over?

Your body composition changes during periods of energy surplus are likely to be the exact same whether you run a strength or hypertrophy program, as the overlap between the two is substantial.
