General Strength Training Template RPE creep

I’ve been following this program for a while now (General Strength Training Template for the Intermediate/Advanced) and have had good results, however one issue I’m having is on the first exercise, where it says to do 3-5 sets at RPE8. Maybe my work capacity is just crap, but I find after 3 sets of 5 @ 8, even on bench, my RPE is going up around 0.5 per set, so I’m at RPE9. On a really, really good day I might be able to get 4 sets but never 5. Is this an issue?

I have to ask; why is the protocol up to 5 sets if that isn’t ever expected?

Who said it’s not expected? That’d be within the limits of normal too.
