I went to your seminar back in March 2018 at Tempe, AZ. I was a senior Aerospace and Software engineer at Honeywell. The seminar was the catalyst that made me interested in the field of medicine. I am happy to report to both of you that I got into Temple Medical School. I will be starting this August at the ripe age of 34 y/o. Your podcast has kept me inspired to continuing this pursuit throughout the years.
Congrats, Elton! I went to medical school after age 30, as well, and have enjoyed a very successful and fulfilling surgical career. There will be detractors along the way in your training. I met a lot of people who said I was too old to be starting the process. Don’t listen to them! Follow your heart! You can absolutely do anything you set your mind to do. Use the same discipline that training has taught you while approaching your studies and rotations – slow, steady progress and CONSISTENCY is the key to success. Show up and put in the work… and along the way, ENJOY IT. Take time to have fun and revel in the experience. It’s really a lifestyle, not just a career path. Congratulations… go crush it!
