Got some SBD stiff/large wrist wraps - how tf am I supposed to use these?!?

It may have been a mistake to buy these, but I’ll spend almost as much as I paid for them to return them. Do these break in after a while and is there any way to break them in faster? Also, is it a good idea to just wrap it slightly further down on my forearm so I can actually bend my wrist without the wrap digging into the back of my hand?

Yea, as you sweat in them they’ll get a little softer- though mine from 2014 are still very stiff and I love them. I don’t know that I’d wrap them any further down your forearm on purpose, but I don’t really know how you wrap them either. With wrist wraps, you want a “cast” over your wrist joint so it’s mostly immobile. I typically wrap mine with with a soft bend in my wrist because it’s not going to move much afterwards.

Just to chime in, I got some stiff SBD wraps 3 months and was also taken aback by how stiff they were. One thing I did is I bent the edge that digs into the back of the hand back and forth a few times to soften it a bit and it feels great now 3 months in. Would recommend just giving it some time to adjust.

Just to add a question I was wondering about while on the topic of wrist wraps.

Do we still use the bulldog grip whilst using wrist wraps?

Or can we get away with a normal full/compression grip, due do the fact that the ability of the wrist to bend is restricted?

Hope that makes sense.

You can use any grip you prefer, but I use the same grip regardless of whether or not I’m wearing a wrap. That said, there is not one single grip that’s optimal for everyone for benching or pressing.

I wrap my wrists while they’re in a bit of extension.

Hi, really late to this thread. I’m not a fan of the very stiff cast-like wrist wraps so I use mark bell’s gangsta wrist wraps. They are all flexible material and I find them very comfortable. When I bench heavy in a peaking block for a competition, I can get some wrist soreness. It is possible that stiffer wraps would help prevent this. It helps me to concentrate on queues like stacking the bar on the radius bone (not on my palm or fingers) and gripping the bar tighter.

Pioneer has a new hybrid style of wrist wraps called Chimera that have softer material on the inside and stiffer on the end that will end up on the outside. I’m interested in trying them to see how they feel.

Thanks
