Hi there - is there any benefit to doing myo reps with a heavier weight, say an ~8 rep activation set followed by sets of triples every 20-30 seconds? Or would the increase in weight but drop in reps not really provide any different benefit to keeping them as they normally are?

To answer this question I’d need something to compare the “heavy” myo-rep to and a specific goal or goals to discuss.
That said, there are relatively wide ranges of intensity and rep ranges that drive strength and hypertrophy outcomes similarly. I wouldn’t expect there to be a difference between a myorep with an 8-10 rep activation set and triples vs a 12-15 rep activation set and 3-5 rep back offs.
