Help with understanding RPE

Hi BBM,

I just started running one of your templates and it has me thinking about RPE a lot more than I have in the past. One question I have regarding RPE is how “comfortable” should the reps left in the tank feel? For example, if I was targeting RPE 8 for a set, should it feel like I had 2 somewhat comfortable reps left or should it feel like I would’ve have to dig deep and really grind out the remaining 2? I know I’m probably overthinking this and sorry if this question is confusing, but any clarification would be appreciated.

Technically, as long as you’re “consistent” with your interpretation/application, it should be fine either way. With that said, we would probably err more towards the former.
