hip pain

Hi

I am a 24 years old male on the NLP. Over the past two-three weeks I developed a dull pain in my right hip. It is only painful if hip external rotation is resisted (I think its called), for example when I’m sitting and while crossing my legs (placing my right ankle on my left knee), I’ll feel pain in my right hip/groin. Once I rest my ankle on my other leg the pain dissapears. I can also feel it in my knee sometimes. I don’t really have pain during the day, or when I’m walking or on a run but it flares up when I’m kicking the ball when playing soccer.

I don’t have real pain when I’m in the gym. Maybe some uncomfortableness during squats, deadlifts and rows. However, afterwards it’s aggravated. I’m not sure what to do. On one hand I feel like it’s not serious enough for a doctor’s visit, but I’m scared further training will aggravate it more and cause serious complications, do you think it will? Is taking rest beneficial?

Hard to diagnose this from here.

I’d recommend starting out by getting a form check on your lifts (our BBM FB group can help with this).

Additionally, take a listen to our podcasts on pain & injury (I think they were episodes 19 & 20).
