Increased protein intake - Constipation and Burning

Hey Jordan,

So as of late, I have increased my protein intake via meat and whey protein. My whey protein, in particular, increased from 2 to 4 scoops a day. As a result, I am having constipation, rectum burning after passing stool, abdominal pain and multiple trips to the bathroom throughout the day. Via searches on your forum, I have concluded that my fiber intake is very low in relation to my protein, thus is the reason behind the issues.

Is this correct?

After tracking, my fiber intake is not consistent and can range from 3-8g per day. I’m assuming after searches I should not reduce protein intake to solve the abnormal bowel movement.

I don’t think this has much to do with your fiber intake, particularly the tenesmus. I would see your doctor about that.

If your fiber is really only 3-8g/day, I would encourage you to eat more fruit and vegetable matter to get closer to 30-35g/day.
