Flatulence and simethicone use (diet high in fiber and protein)

I find that a diet high in fiber and protein causes some pretty undesirable side effects – significant increase in the quantity and quality(?) of flatulence. I haven’t identified any particular food as a culprit. I understand this is not terribly uncommon, but I worry about being discourteous when I’m at a public gym.

Do you know of any issues with long-term, multiple-times-per-week use of simethicone (Gas-X) to cope with this? Or are there other good strategies that may not have occurred to me?

Nope, there are no issues with long term use.

If a substantial portion of your protein intake comes from dairy, that may be a modifiable reason for this issue.

Thanks! And nope, most of it is from chicken breast, plus about a pint of skim milk on most days in my whey protein shake. Omitting the shake doesn’t seem to make a big difference for me.

Just enjoy the farts man.
