Increasing volume

Hi - I’m looking to increase volume to provide more stress. Would reducing working weights by 5-10%, performing two back off sets and then decreasing by 5-10% again and performing one more set on my main movements be enough volume to provide the extra stress needed to get stronger?

Thanks in advance

We don’t know anything about you or your training history, so it’s not possible to predict such a thing.

If you want to bump up your training volume and see how you respond, adding back-off sets is a good initial strategy. You may not need to otherwise change your working weights at all. I’d just start with a bigger back-off (say, 15% lighter than your work set) and work it up from there.

Great stuff thanks Austin. For clarity, I was meaning complete my working sets as normal, then reducing by 5-10% to perform back off sets - I get what you’re saying though, thanks.
