Injured Ankle

Hey coach i got a question referring to my moms ankle. She broke it a couple years back and has plates and screws in it. She is overweight and doesn’t workout. When she walks around a lot it gets swollen and it hurts her a good bit. I personally think it’s cause she doesn’t do much so it’s weak and gets swollen due to how inactive she is. Don’t you think the more she works out and gets the range of motion from walking on it more, than it will get stronger and not cause her as much pain eventually?

Hard to say for sure, but the benefits of exercise outweigh any potential downsides / risks anyway, so we’d recommend getting her started.
