Intermittent Fasting - What are the pitfalls?

Hey there

IF has been a frequent topic on these boards, and the my general understanding of it is that it does not offer any inherent benefits compared to other dietary plans, aside from increased compliance for some people.

But, I wanted to ask: what, if any, are the problems of this diet in a situation where the person in question has excellent compliance to this style of eating?

I ask because I am in a weight loss situation (looking to lose around 10 kilos), while still lifting 3x weekly. My training sessions all take place in the common 8 hour window of eating, i.e. 14:00-22:00. I am interested in giving this a shot mainly because it seems relatively simple and because I know from past experience that this sort of fast is pretty dang easy for me. There are days where I’ve done this by accident without even thinking about it.

Thanks

No reliable risks that I’m aware of.

Thanks for the response. I feel safer knowing that it most likely won’t eat my gainzZz for breakfast - or rather lunch.

I believe that anyone with hypertension may find that BP increases with intermittent fasting. I don’t have the sources to hand, but IIRC, Dr Michael Eades had something about this on his website.

Found the link: don’t post links to pseudoscience por favor

No, it doesn’t. I would not use Dr. Eades or Tim Ferris as resources for learning about medicine, nutrition, training, etc.
