Jacob's Road Back

Trained consistently for about two years, going from 130 lbs to 185 lbs. Stopped working out at the end of October of 2018 and just started again this week. Did a lot of traveling, had some fun experiences, but lost some weight…

I feel like this might be considered blasphemy here, but I rejoined the SS gym in Nebraska so I could have a coach for form improvements + programming. It worked the first time. I’m not a fan of the SS forum and have always enjoyed the work of Jordan, Austin, Leah, etc., so prefer to post my log here. Not sure I have a reasoning for sharing other than wanting to be part of a community to share my progress in.

12/9/19 - 149.2 lbs

Squat: 85 x 5 x 3

Press: 55 x 5 x 3 (I left my notebook at the gym and actually am not 100% certain about this; I will update Wednesday)

Deadlift: 115 x 5

I inherently track my macro intake, but am being more formal about it this week. Starting next week, I’ll have a target P/C/F breakdown to hit daily. Going to shoot for 1.5-2 lbs of weight gain a week. I’m tall and lanky (6’1’') and have a goal to be 200 lbs. Once I access things there, maybe 210-215 is where I go next.

Front Squat: 83 kilos x 5 x 3

Press: 43 kilos x 6 x 3

Rows: 200 lbs x 5 x 3

It is my third or fourth week on front squats. I’ve always enjoyed them. Working my way up.

New programming for press. I hate kilos, but they are so pretty, and I’m so lazy.

I also do GPP work on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Nothing too fun to log. I prefer the bike, but am thinking about switching one of the days to the rower. Decisions. Decisions.

I’m back. I’m terrible at keeping this updated, so can’t guarantee this will last long. I started the Powerbuilding 1 template today. This is my first time using RPE, so we’ll see how it goes. I PR’d a few of my lifts over the weekend. Current PRs (lbs) are:

Squat: 310 x 1

Bench: 210 x 2 (in progress)

Deadlift: 405 x 1

Press: 145 x 1

Current BW is 184 lbs. I just returned to school and am experimenting with being a social butterfly. I’m not in the mood to gain weight right now. Eventually, perhaps after this program, I’d like to add 5 or so lbs. I’ll probably settle around 205-210 in the next year or two, but there are so many variables involved I’m not worried about it right now.

I’d like to hit 225 on the bench through this program. Deadlift has been moving well. Hopefully that keeps up. Lifting schedule for this semester is T/W/Th/Sat/Sun. I usually shoot for 20,000 steps/day, but I usually either hit 15,000-17,000 or 24,000 - 26,000. Usually never in between. For GPP work, I usually either do the bike for 75 minutes or stairmaster for ~ 30 minutes. I’d like to start incorporating some rowing sprints or pushing the sled. I love walking/hiking, so that’s what I “train” for.

Oh yeah, and I’m trying to learn how to do a handstand. That’s another goal.

Romanian Deadlift:

I’ve never done these before. Probably undershot it a bit, but nothing worth noting any further.
