Joint supplement worth the expense?

I have dealt with chronic patellar tendoin issues for over 15 years now. I have for several years, used joint supplements with the idea that the supplement will help keep the joint healthy. My thought is that my knees always hurt, so hopefully the supplement is preventing other potential joint soreness.

I’m not really sure if the supplement is worth the expense or not. I am curious to hear your professional opinion. For reference, I am using a supplement that includes:

  1. Glucosamine 1500 mg., Chondroitin 800 mg., MSM 750 mg. per Serving

It is not worth it, in my opinion, as there is no good data to suggest it works better than placebo.

I am no expert on this, But from my personal experience I have spent WAY too much cash on this stuff just to think that it may be working. If I have to really think to tell whether or not it feels any better, than to me its not worth it anymore.

Id rather spend my money on other things to get better feeling knees. Good knee sleeves, Good lifting shoes, and im thinking all that money saved per month on that stuff help pay for some sessions with a Starting Strength coach I have within an hour and a half away from me to make sure when I squat, that I am doing it properly to help prevent these sort of things from becoming a problem. Just by watching a few of the starting strength online videos, I am now squatting with far less knee pain just making sure I was not going to deep, which seems to be the root cause of my personal knee pain.
