Lever vs. Single prong

Hey guys. I’ve been thinking about buying a decent belt for a while. Between Inzer, Best Belts and Pioneer, I think I have decided for Pioneer.

However, I’m in a big doubt between getting a Pioneer Cut (the 0.5 inch spaced holes) single prong or a Lever belt.

Having never tried a lever belt myself, did anyone have a bad experience with them, in general? Besides the longer time to change the selected hole, any other disadvantages, comparing with a single prong?

Thanks!

Depending on the quality of the lever belt i have heard of people breaking the levers, but i hear pioneer a good belt ( never owned one)

I have had both an Inzer lever belt and an Athlete belt from Best Belts. The best belt is far more comfortable than the Inzer. The owner of Pioneer did a review on multiple different brands of belts, and said that if he were to recommend a belt other than his own it would be from Best belts(video was on Brandon Campbell’s channel) Construction and materials are very similar between the two. My Inzer was never as comfortable, and never broke in. I don’t have anything against a lever belt. I think it is easier to get it really tight, and also to loosen. It is harder to adjust the size on a lever, and if you prefer your belt a little tighter on some lifts compared to others then you should go with a prong. Pioneer and Best belts seem to be on par with each other. I really like the idea of the Pioneer cut! But I have no intention of replacing a very good belt for just that reason. If you do plan on competing the Best belt is IPF approved. Pioneer is not. Pioneer fits the specs required and depending on the meet that may or may not be a problem. My Best belt was comfortable right out of the box and I’d bet the Pioneer would be as well. Good luck.

I had an Inzer lever belt that I just gave away. The Inzer belt is not completely leather and doesn’t break in like a full leather belt will. I also had an issue where my leg war hitting the lever and driving the belt into my ribs on deep squats. I also like a slightly different adjustment for deadlifts and squats which makes the lever less than ideal. I have switched to a single prong Best Belt. If I were to buy a new belt today it would probably be the new Pioneer cut belt with 1/2" inch spacing. Allan Thrall has one of these and it looks awesome.
