Lifestyle Changes in Resolving Erectile Dysfunction

Hello, this is a bit embarrassing but I have found lately I’ve been having issues with ED when having sex. Have been more sexually active lately and it seems to always happen when condoms are used and sometimes when unprotected. I’m wondering if it’s more of a psychological issue with some anxiety but also the fact of watching lots of pornography as of late. Is this something to discuss with my primary care doctor? My friend uses Blue Chew (some kind of off-brand Viagra) and basically refuses to have sex without it, is there any side effects to using that stuff regularly? I don’t like the idea of relying on a pill for this kind of stuff. I’m trying to throw the kitchen sink at the problem by eating plenty of fiber and leafy greens, plenty of healthy fats, etc. but it seems to nonetheless be a problem I’m having, lifting of course. I want to see if lifestyle changes would improve it as I’m 31 years old and don’t feel like I should be relying on Viagra or any medicine of that type. I’d like to also just stop watching porn or masturbation altogether for at least a month for “resensitization” as cringe as that sounds. I’m at a healthy bodyweight at 185 6’4 I think. Thank you.

Sorry to hear about this.

Yes, this would be very appropriate to discuss with your doctor. It’s something that is probably under-discussed / under-addressed in primary care.

I’m not familiar with that, sorry, but if it is a widely available supplement, then it is not viagra or in any way related to the prescription products. I would not recommend or trust any supplement for this.

The lifestyle factors are the same that we recommend for everyone as it relates to general health, which are outlined here: Where should my priorities be to improve my health? I do think that your plan regarding “desensitization” is wise as well.

Thank you, I will discuss this with my doctor and put off the Blue Chew. I was always skeptical of any supplement like that but I told my friend about my problem and he said it fixed his issues in that regard. The thing is idk what they put in that stuff, he says it makes his skin flush red when he’s using them. The fact that he uses them when alcohol involved is probably not healthy either. At an absolute minimum I’m going to abstain from pornography and stuff as I believe something is going on there psychologically when I am in an actual intimate situation.

Hey there,

Thanks for opening up about this. It’s totally understandable to feel a bit embarrassed, but trust me, you’re not alone in dealing with these kinds of issues.

First off, kudos for considering the psychological aspect. Stress, anxiety, and habits like porn watching can all impact performance in the bedroom. It’s definitely worth discussing with your primary care doctor, as they can offer insights and support.

Your approach of focusing on lifestyle changes is spot on. Eating well and staying active can make a big difference, so keep up the good work there. And hey, taking a break from porn and masturbation for a while might sound cringe, but it could actually be a smart move for “resensitization.”

Yeah, my guy’s been using Kamagra for a while now, and it’s been a game-changer for him. It’s helped him out a lot with ED issues, and he’s been pretty happy with the results. It’s nice to see him feeling more confident and comfortable in the bedroom, you know?

At 31, it’s totally understandable to want to explore non-medication options first. Just know that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and it’s okay to experiment until you find what works best for you.

Hang in there, and take care of yourself
