Link between Depression and Inflammation?

Is there good evidence of a link between depression and inflammation? I’m doing heavy volume work (legs/push/pull) for hypertrophy. I just started on a new program, and I noticed depression come back, though I can’t say it’s because of that. The SSRI I was taking was working, but as I introduced this new heavier volume, I’ve definitely noticed fatigue/depression. Perhaps it’s the fatigue that is linked to depression, more so than the inflammation? I was thinking that body inflammation keeps me from getting quality sleep.

I appreciate your thoughts.

Kind of, but probably not related to your training. Additionally, we cannot reduce depression down to being “caused” by inflammation anymore than we can reduce back pain down to a single thing. We expect depression, fatigue, etc. to ebb and flow over time.

We would recommend talking to your doctor about any new depressive symptoms you may be having.
