These lipid numbers are not too bad, so I don’t think checking with that frequency (a month apart) is necessary. It would be fine to space the measurements out a bit more.
In some folks with significant fatty liver issues, blood lipids can transiently increase during the dieting phase as this excess lipid is “exported” from the liver. So I typically don’t measure lipids while folks are in an active weight loss phase, preferring to check when things have stabilized a bit more / at “maintenance”. (I’m not saying you have fatty liver, this is just my general practice).
I’ve been cutting for the past 6 months, down to 84kg from 90kg. Waist is at 86cm, down from 97cm. I look pretty lean at this point, but still some very stubborn visceral fat left (most my fat is/was visceral). My diet is pretty much as recommended by you, with 35+ grams fiber, chicken, some lean pork, fish, lots of whole foods and skyr (I had some nutrition coaching with your crew).
I now had blood work done and LDL was 162, HDL 60. I’m 39, had mostly visceral for all my life and a very fat-forward diet. High Cholesterol and visceral fat runs in my family. I remember that my lipids always were elevated.
I want to lose another 4 kilos (at the current rate with Christmas coming up I’m thinking this will take four months, unfortunately). Then maintain for two months (with some extra nuts and fish), then redo bloodwork. Does that sound reasonable? Should I look into statins asap if it remains high?
I think your plan sounds reasonable, and we can re-address the question of meds then. It may be worth a consultation to hash this out in more detail, whether with your local physician, or submitting an inquiry with us.
