Maintain or Cut?

Hey Jordan,

I really appreciate all the information that you have been putting out on the internet!
I am currently 22 and weigh 215 lbs and I am Caucasian. My BF% is approximately 23% and my waste size is 38.5 I’m on my second time around doing The Bridge (free version recommended by Alan Thrall on one of his YouTube videos). My current lifts are:
Bench: 225lbs
Squat: 405lbs
Deadlift 405lbs

My question is in regards to nutrition. Like I said earlier I am 215 lbs (gained about 40 lbs in 6 months). I did this all by simply eating more and not tracking my macronutrients or even caloric intake. I just tried to eat as much as I could while drinking as much 3.25% milk as I could. My question is this:

Given that I am sitting at approximately 23% bodyfat and my waist is 38.5 inches, should I maintain my body weight or cut down to a smaller waist size (using the macronutrient requirements that were given as a starting point in “To Be A Beast”). I’m not thrilled about the idea of cutting weight but will do it if necessary. Also, is there anyway that I could stay at my bodyweight but improve my body composition? If so what approximately would my macronutrients be?

Thanks a lot,
Benjamin

Benjamin,

I would recommend losing weight to get your waist <34".

I don’t think it’s likely that you’re going to maintain weight and see a substantial reduction in waist size given that you’ve been training for a bit. You’ll be okay!!
