Meal timing around workout

My impression is that meal timing around the workout is not significant compared to total macro intake. However, I am in a situation where there’s a large gap between my pre- and post-workout meal (due to taking public transportation to/from the gym). My schedule for a longer “heavy” day might be approximately:

3 pm: Eat meal
5 pm: Begin lifting
7 pm: End lifting
8 pm: Eat meal

Would it benefit me to (for example) pack a protein bar to eat immediately before or after lifting, or is this not worth worrying about? The before/after lifting meals have plenty of carbs and protein.

This is completely acceptable. If you want to do a bar in between because you think it’ll help you, it’ll likely help you, but 5 hrs between meals is totally fine.
