Hello. I have another question on a topic you’ve written about a few times. I have seen on the boards that you recommend training with some chow in your gut, even if you’re training at 4am or 5am. I think the basis of that is related to having enough fuel to power your workouts. That seems legit. One of the suggestions is oatmeal with protein powder. Question as follows, if you are likely to eat your breakfast right after training, is it wise to have protein powder in the oatmeal? Won’t that impact MPS? On your podcasts and in your video, I believe you say that we should wait 3hrs at least between protein dosages. Thanks for your consideration.
I think all meals should be spaced 3-5 hours apart with only minimal effort or consideration to make this happen. In other words, I wouldn’t geek out about it and set a timer or anything unless that improved adherence. In this case, I’d eat upon waking, then eat 3 hours later.
Thanks, Jordan.
I think a lot of us spend time on the board geeking out over this kind of stuff! And we love it! Thanks for making your time available to feed our geekery.
I understand your advice. I’m squatting within 30 minutes of waking up, and maybe it’s just me, but I feel gross when working out if I’ve had a protein shake, some oats or other form of protein right before training. I have seen others make the same comment on this board. I believe an alternative would be to have a carb only feed, workout, then have your proper meal (with high quality protein), and then start the 3-5hour rhythm you suggest.
If that’s what you’d like to do, that’s fine with me. I have not had that experience personally or with my clients, but individuals gon’ individual.
