Hey BBM crew,
i had 2 tsp of sugarless Metamucil shortly before doing GPP. I’ve felt awfully sluggish this whole workout. Tired and lethargic, having to take some some rest breaks, which is out of the he needs or me norm.
History/ Notes: I don’t take any pre-workout. I’ve had about 1,000 calories today. I typically workout in the mornings, and this session was at 4:00pm. I am usually always amped to be in the gym.
Do do you think they this slow digesting fiber could have anything to do with this?
Thanks,
Jake
IPJ,
Thanks for the post!
While it’s possible that eating something right before a workout can alter how you “feel”, I wouldn’t necessarily expect it to and 2tsp of metamucil isn’t really a sizeable meal anyway. That being said, I don’t typically recommend people take metamucil either. If I had to guess, I’d bet your dietary intake prior to the GPP work, time of day, environment, fatigue, etc. contribute more to how you felt, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in it either way.

Thanks for the quick follow up. Although it was unusual, I chalked it up to prior nights sleep, and the long day. Since then, no issues to report other than getting stronger!
Hi Jordan
Curious as to why you don’t typically recommend Metamucil? Is it because we should be getting enough insoluble fiber through fruits and veggies throughout the day?
Thanks
Andrew
Supplementing it doesn’t appear to correlate with the same health outcomes higher fiber intakes are associated with. I prefer folks hit their fiber from whole foods when possible.
