Mild anemia

Hoping you all could shed some insight on my situation or point me in the right direction. I had a CBC at my last appointment, and we found lab values consistent with mild anemia. We redid the CBC over the next two weeks with similar results. See below…

| |
| |
| HCT
44.2 - 53.0 % | 40.4 L | 39.5 L | 39.6 L
| HGB
14.8 - 17.8 g/dL | 14.0 L | 14.0 L | 14.4 L
| MCH
25.8 - 33.1 pg | 33.6 H | 33.6 H | 33.9 H
| MCHC
31.9 - 35.2 g/dL | 34.7 | 35.4 H | 36.4 H |

All other values are normal. Tested Ferritin 97 ng/mL. Folate and B12 are normal.

I exercise 5 days a week with maybe some light cardio on the 6th. Have noticed no loss of endurance or fatigue.

Thanks for your thoughts and help,

Gabe

14.8 g/dL is higher than usual for a lower bound of a reference range. I would not consider this to represent anemia at all in most patients. Without knowing anything else about you, I would not do anything about this, nor would I continue repeating the tests unless you experience any new signs or symptoms.

How old are you? Is there a particular reason you had a CBC done in the first place?

Thanks.

I am 44 years old. No health issues. I had the CBC after a sycopal episode. We are guessing that the syncope was orthostatic due to dehydration, a mild sinus infection, and altitude.

Gabe

I see. Yeah, I wouldn’t have concerns about this CBC in that context.
