Minimum Effective Dose

Just read an article on another site…the theory of minimum effective dose seems appealing, because I dont seem to be one of those people that has the patience for 2 hour sessions with tons of volume.

What can you say about M.E.D. ? is there merit in it? Can we make gains with less volume? how do we know what that does is without underachieving? and contrarily, how to tell when we are doing too much volume, in turn negatively affecting out performance (1RM)?

I tried your 12 week strength and i had a lot of fun, but i do feel like the sessions took a little too long and i got feeling run down around week 8. Could be that i went too aggressive on RPE, had extra life stress…I want to make gains with 3 or 4 1 hour sessions a week lol maybe not realistic

Thanks for your input on M.E.D.

What website, Cole?

We’ve also addressed this extensively in our programming podcasts.

That would 99% likely be barbell logics site.

Yea, it’s just one of those things I’ve grown tired of discussing, as the people who write about it (and coach based upon it) are unable to actually define what they mean, show examples of this in an controlled setting, e.g. data, and do not tolerate being challenged. With all that in mind, I’m happy to continue to ignore it
