Music Suggestions

Hey there,

What do you like to listen to when working out?

If you like some Metal, what are some good uplifting songs?

Primus
Run the Jewels
Rage
Any hip hop that boom baps

Basically anything Slipknot - especially “Nero Forte”
“North Star of Nija” - Orbit Culture
“Behold the Crown” - After the Burial
“Devil” and “Sound of Madness” - Shinedown
“Stitch” - Wage War
“My Curse” - Killswitch Engaged
“You Can’t Stop Me” - Andy Mineo

How about reggae? They are not that bad too I guess.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got from an accomplished powerlifter was NOT to listen to music while training - why? When you actually compete and the tunes are blasting you get a much bigger bump of adrenaline from it. Works real well - not for everybody.

My gym playlist is mostly Metal these days with some Hard Rock and other thrown in the mix. Black Label Society, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Godsmack, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Dio, Danzig, etc. Ya know.

With that said, I have found some of the newer Tool stuff to be a great! The Fear Inoculum album specifically. A lot of the songs on that album build progressively which I find is a great ramp up to a hard working set especially on deadlifts. I’m still working heavy 1x5s on DL so turning on something like Pneuma at the start of my last warm-up set or right after usually means by the time I’m ready to pull the working set the music is kicking into high gear.

The soundtrack from Attack On Titan, season 3 in particular.
