My bench stopped after recovered from injury

First of all, I’m a big fan of your work. a lot of things I learned from you guys are helped me a lot.
Hope you can understand my English

I’ll get right to the point.
About 6 months ago I was diagnosed as rotator cuff inflammation and now I’m fully recovered from it.
I’m doing The Bridge now and I replaced the bench with the press as suggested in the template.
I don’t have any shoulder problem with benching but I’m not getting any stronger at bench.
Before I get injured I benched 70kg for 5reps started from 55kg(I get injured while I was doing Starting Strength)
After I recovered from injury I started bench from 55kg. It has been 5weeks but I’m still benching 55kg. (60kg 5@8 was my PR on Bridged but it only happened once)
On the other hand, I can press 60kg for 5@8 so I don’t think I lose all my upper body strength.

My question is

  1. I want to know why I can’t repeat the Novice LP even though I’m started from lifting the same weight. I haven’t benched more than 3month so I thought I became a Novice again.
  2. What do I have to do to increase my poor bench? (Increasing volume or variation?)

Notes: I think there’s no need to consider my injury because I think now I’m fully fine

Glad to hear you’ve healed up!

  1. I wouldn’t repeat the novice LP.
  2. Bench more. You just started training and are doing a lot of pressing (not benching) apparently. I would run the Bridge as programmed and see how that goes.
