Resetting on SSLP due to injury

Quick background: 46 y.o. male - I tore my supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons late last year and had surgery in November. Didn’t do much of anything except PT for about 5 months and then found Rip’s video on shoulder rehab which made so much more sense than what I was doing. Figured I was sufficiently detrained enough to be a novice again and started LP. My press has progressed from a broomstick back up to 125 lbs x 5. However at this weight it is apparent that my injured side is still significantly weaker than the other (bar travels unevenly through the press). I missed reps in 2 out of 3 sets for two sessions and subsequently reset the weight by 10%.

My question is would there be any value in doing more than the two or three resets recommended in Practical Programming knowing that it’s partially a rehab issue? Or would it be better to move on to intermediate programming? And this is assuming I’m micro-loading, resting enough, etc.

Thanks - I’m really enjoying the content you guys are putting out there

I’d probably move on to programming that induces further adaptation using more pressing volume. Grinding really heavy reps at the end stage of the novice LP probably doesn’t represent the best risk / benefit ratio in the context of rehab.
