Hi,
Wanting some nutrition advice if you are able to help…
In the UK, national guidelines recommend limits on free sugar, or “added” sugar, see here. WHO seem to say something similar, so pretty sure that there is similar guidance in the US. But what confuses me, is why there is a limit on refined sugar, but absolutely no limit recommendation on sugar in unprocessed fruit, milk or vegetables. I’m not caught up in the whole “sugar is intrinsically bad” thing, but I enjoy eating quite a bit of fruit, and it helps me keep as close to 10 a day as possible (far less prep than vegetables), but something seems counter intuitive to say that one form of sugar has strict limits, yet the other is a free for all, given that the sugar molecules are basically the same? In total, owing to quite a bit of fruit and milk we are sometimes looking at >100g non-added sugar per day in my diet (but virtually no added sugar). Should I consider thinking about limiting this?
