Drs. Do you have an opinion on the “New Castle” Diet/Study?
Is it worth me, a 41-year-old male, with Type 2 diabetes trying? It sounds legit to this dummy but a little to easy which makes me leary. Plus I would hate to give up the strength that would do with the severe weight loss. I am 5’-11" at 212 Lbs with 35" waist and a slight beer belly.
If you’re asking me do I think you’ll lose weight on an 800 kCal/day diet then my answer is yes. However, if you’re asking me if I think you need that aggressive of a calorie restriction in order to lose weight to improve your diabetes control to a clinically significant level then my answer is probably not, though I am not familiar with your medical history or current control.
Well, the sample size is quite small…sure. However, it doesn’t really add anything meaningful to the existing knowledge base. We already knew that losing weight regardless of intervention type produces better outcomes for those with diabetes.
