Good Morning Dr. Feigenbaum,
I have combed through the forums and read To Be a Beast several times. By my own fault, I am not completely sure of the appropriate nutrition for my goals. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. I am a 37 year old male. I weigh 230 lbs and have roughly 20% body fat. I am 6’02" , and, measured at the navel, I am just shy of 40" in circumference. I just purchased the endurance template and I’m in week 1. I PRd my back squat last week for a 445 @ 9.5. I don’t mind not getting a ton stronger. Rather, through vanity or the realization that this is a risky waistline (family history of heart disease), I have decided to focus on reducing body fat. I am unsure if that really means losing weight, but I wouldn’t mind being 210 to 215.
The macros I calculated based on To BE a Beast are 2629kcal 288g protein 230g carb 62g fat
I managed to do this for a week. I could barely eat all the protein. The carbs were fun, but left no room for vegetables. No complaints about fat. Probably not significant and probably within the margin of error, but I gained about one pound after only five days. Prior to this, I was eating about 220g protein and between 100 and 150g carbs and was pretty much maintaining weight. Some days I might get a little silly and pack in the calories. but I would usually stabilize within a couple days.
Most of the discussion in the forums would label me as an “older athlete.” I’m fluffy, but not obese. I like being strong, but I want my wife to see those abzZz!
Do you have any thought on this? If this is getting into the realm of nutritional consult, I should be paying for your service. Please tell me if this is the case.
Thanks for all you do on your website.
Iron Mike
