You know what’s absolutely fascinating?: How the medical mechanical model of pain persisted in the face of subjective perception of comfort. How did we not connect those dots? It’s not like the system that perceives all tactile sensory information is arbitrarily different for pain vs pleasure. You like to lay on your bed a certain way, hold your pen a certain way, cook certain kinds of food… it’s all subjective. Our entire experience as individuals is subjective on some level. Why were we so satisfied with reductionism here, when 5 seconds of further exploration debunks what has become such a pervasive myth?
