Plate Limitations and Deadlifting

I apologize if this has been covered already considering others are probably facing similar situations.

I usually start with a 1@8 for a daily e1rm for my deadlift. I then base my “volume” work off the e1rm.

I do not have enough weight to perform the 1@8. Would an acceptable alternative be a 3@8 instead for a daily “test”?

I know there are no right answers but I’m wondering if they are more effective alternatives for the pursuit of increasing my DL e1rm over time.
