Possible Hernia

So, over the past couple of years in my fitness journey, i started to notice a slight bulge in the left side of my abdomen. It was more noticeable with more weight loss. I never experienced any pain, only the occasional discomfort and some weakness doing ab work on that side. For example, a side plank was harder for that side than the other. I finally went to the doctor recently to have it looked at. After a surgeon consult and CT scan, they have not identified a hernia. My abdominal muscles on that side aren’t developed like they should be causing a larger gap between the muscles, but the layers in the abdominal wall are all intact. Since there is a weakness there, a hernia could occur, but he said I could continue strength training, yay!

My questions for you guys, would you have any special considerations for something like this?

Could more direct ab work help develop the muscles and potentially close the gap?

I would not have any special considerations or make specific training changes for this situation - would probably have you continue training as normal
