Pre-Diabetes

Hi,

My A1C as checked both Dec 31 2018 & about a week ago is 5.7, just in the range of pre-diabetes. I was hoping it would go down, but glad it at least didn’t go up any. I struggle to get enough carbs without overdoing it. I lost five lbs right after the December diagnosis, which I did not need to do. I would love to gain them back but have no idea how to do so without wreaking my carb numbers. Any suggestions? I have not noticed any decline in my strength levels since the weight loss

What is your age, weight, height, and waist circumference?

Jordan,

I am 60. Weight is 129, height is 5’6". Waist I’m not sure of, probably 28 or so. I do carry most of my weight in my abdominal area.

kIM,

A few more questions:

What is your gender?

Is your weight in pounds or kilos?

What is your waist (You’ll need to measure)?

Are you currently exercising? If so, what are you doing?

Sorry, there’s a lot of missing information here I’d like to have when thinking about this.

Jordan, I am female, 129 lbs, waist worse than I thought at 31”, I have been lifting 17 months currently doing HLM. Before lifting I did dumbbells for years, walked and ran. Still walk my dog daily and run around with him in the yard daily. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for this!

Given your waist and pre-diabetes, I would advise body fat reduction through slow weight loss, which would be done via a small calorie deficit (250kCal) and maintaining activity- particularly resistance training!

Jordan, Thank you. I don’t really need to lose weight, just the fat in my waist. Don’t know how to go about this. I have completed a question sheet on here about Nutritional Training, waiting to hear back from BBM about it. Thanks

You would do this by losing weight. Unfortunately for all of us, it’s not really possible to lose fat in the spots we want to. Yea, it sucks

I disagree. I think that you would benefit by losing weight and the fat in your midsection. That said, we’ll be happy to help you
