Diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic about two years ago and kept the A1C at 5.7 through three tests. I have went a year without testing and did so on Monday, with results coming back Tuesday as 6.0. I am not overweight, weight 120 and being 5’6". I worked with a sports nutritionist earlier this fall and made some good dietary changes. I did a home A1C test back in the summer and it showed the A1C at 6.4 but then, how accurate was that? So maybe I am coming back down if 6.4 was accurate, or maybe I am going up, don’t really know. I don’t eat many sweets, watch my carbs. I really don’t know what else to do. I am trying to eat healthy but I admit having a problem with veggies. I don’t want to lose anymore weight. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a few cousins with Diabetes. Started with Pre-Diabetes. Both quite overweight however and did nothing to try to ward off diabetes
No anemia. I take Celexa 20mg qd
Not sure on Protein or Fiber. I try to eat meat every day, as well as whey protein, and protein bars. I would say my protein intake of fairly good. Fiber not so much.
I see. Outside of working to increase your fiber intake, I’m not seeing anything else here that would raise concern for another issue (although it would take a more detailed evaluation to fully flesh that out). There may be some genetic factors at play that you’re fighting against, which does happen for some folks.
I would be happy to discuss further and review your lab results to see whether there is anything else suspicious here (although I can’t make any guarantees we would find anything actionable) – however I would not be able to order additional testing for you (although again, there is no guarantee that additional testing is needed either). If you are interested in discussing further, feel free to email us at support@barbellmedicine.com.
