Protein for kids

What is a safe level of protein for a 3 year old? My sister-in-law is putting protein powder in her 3 year old’s pancakes and I was a bit puzzled as it seemed very unnecessary. Also, besides knowing what is a safe range of protein for a toddler, what dangers are there to an excess of protein?

Jason.

The recommended amount of protein is ~ 0.9 grams per kilo bodyweight per day, though no upper limit has been established due to lack of data showing harms of high levels of protein. The recommendation is not to consume single amino acids. I have some concerns about protein supplement ingestion- mainly that the protein isn’t contaminated however and not the amount of protein.

Thanks for the prompt reply Jordan. The supplement is from Jim Stoppani…sadly.
