I recently bought a clear whey protein powder from my myprotein and I am worried that it is “amino spiked.” Their site lists the powder as having 4 grams of bcaas per 20 gram serving. I was under the impression that protein should have 25 percent of its quantity coming from bcaas, so this 20 gram serving should, in theory have 5 grams of bcaas, not 4. Is this a cause for concern when looking to optimize muscle protein synthesis events from protein feedings? The product is hydrolyzed whey and supposedly has a full amino acid profile, just seems low in amino acids per serving. Thanks docs
Our whey protein has 6g of BCAA for 20g serving and this is not indicative of the being spiked. Rather, you’d be looking for evidence of cheaper amino acids being included at a higher level to increase the protein count.
