I’m a very new member and just switched over to the Bridge after accomplishing the NLP.
I have a question with with regards to the sets in week 3. On day 1 of week 3 on Squats, it asks me to accomplish 3x5 @ RPE 8; does this mean I should accomplish for example 3x5x110kg for straight sets assuming the first set was REP 8 or should I reduce the weight for the succeeding sets (sets 2&3) to maintain a true RPE 8?
That being said, its more important to keep RPE the same for the prescribed sets and reps so if you have to drop a little weight to make that happen it’s fine.
Yes go sets across. Some RPE creep between sets is fine. Not every set has to be exactly @8. It’s totally ok, normal even, if your last set is @9. If you start going anything over @9 however, I would look at 2 things:
ask yourself if your first set of @8 truly was an @8 or if you over shot it.
if you did not overshoot, adjust rest times up a bit so you don’t go over @9 on any sets.
Haha, yeah we all have been there. It’s one of those things where to truly understand it you just kind of have to do it for awhile. But the more you use it, the more you will understand it. The good news is that you don’t have to be perfect with it. There is some natural fuzz in RPE programming. Good enough truly is good enough during these first few months that you are learning the skill.
So it would seem, I put more on the bar yesterday (week 2 day 1) and felt significantly more confident in knowing where I was in regards to RPE. Managed to get an extra 30# on the bar for my rack pulls @8x2
