I saw Jordan comment on another forum post (optimizing nutrition) that he recommends only having red meat a couple of times a week.
I’m wondering why there would be an issue with say having a pound of extra lean ground beef or top sirloin every night, assuming other dietary requirements are met(fiber, saturated fat, etc.)
Basically, is there anything uniquely health-damaging about red meat where having a pound of extra lean ground beef daily as opposed to say extra lean ground turkey would cause serious issues?
Is there a big difference between having it 3 times a week vs every day?
Thanks,
Adam
I have relatively few concerns about regular intake of unprocessed red meat in those that are otherwise eating a health promoting dietary pattern. That said, I do think ignoring the established risks of red meat intake (even unprocessed red meat intake) with some types of malignancy (e.g. colorectal cancer) and other medical conditions is unwise. It isn’t clear to me how significant a risk reduction there would be in cutting 7x/wk down to 3x/wk, but I would expect a small to moderate effect on general (maybe more in some, less in others).
Sorry, it’s not exactly clear because so many people do not actually eat this way.
