Red meat badness

Hi Jordan! I read your story earlier, it’s disappeared now but IIRC you said that you don’t eat red meat at home anymore and limit consumption to 2x/week. My question is whether red meat is being limited as it would lead you to over consume saturated fat, or whether there’s something else inherently harmful about red meat itself?

I do a lot of vertical diet meals when I’m making meal prep for myself, I know you’re not a fan but they sit well with me and make it a lot easier to get down the amount of food I have to eat just to maintain. I do have a bunch of other meals too but between those and some bacon now and then I’m eating red meat on average 2x/day.

Obviously more than recommended, but I’m using 95/5 beef and my calories from saturated fat are never more than 10% of my daily totals. I pretty much check all the other boxes you promote too - fibre, sugar, activity, waist etc are all in line. So is this red meat really gonna kill me?

Short answer: I’m not sure. At best, it’s neutral. At worst, it increases risk of a few diseases. I think it’s worthwhile for most people to limit red meat consumption to 3 times per week or less.
