Recommend LP Program

I’m currently on Starting Strength and wrapping up week 7. I’m having great results so far and have improved across the board with no stalls.

However, I feel like I’ve got more in the tank, and I feel very well rested and recovered even just 24 hours after a session. Not to mention the 2 day recovery window between workout weeks feels like an eternity. Long story short, I really feel like I could be pulling 4 workout days and I can’t help but wish there was just a bit more upper body focus on the program. Additionally, I’ve seen Jordan recently remark on another thread that he believes SS could do with more volume.

So with all that being said, does Barbell Medicine have a recommend novice LP program they would recommend above others? Or how about just for me with what I have described?

I know you guys recommend The Bridge as an intermediate program or novice to intermediate program, however I’m still in the Linear Progression phase.

Me stats: 40 yr old male, 174 pounds. Tracking calorie and macro intake meticulously and currently taking in 2800 calories, 200g protein, rest from fats/carbs while trying to keep fat no more than 25% of daily calories.

What are your current lifts?

Hey Austin!

My starting and now current lifts are as follows.

Overhead Press: 65lbs to 100lbs
Deadlift: 115lbs to 275lbs
Back Squat: 135lbs to 235lbs
Bench: 85lbs to 135lbs

Really would love to have a bit more upper body activity than SS provides, and some additional volume. I just don’t want to shoot myself in the foot.

If you’re recovering as well as you say you are, have you considered making larger session-to-session jumps?
