replace low bar squat with ssb squat

Hey BBM Crew,

I’ve read from different sources that the ssq squat is more a mix between a high bar squat and a front squat, so that the emphasis is on the quads and less on the hamstrings.
If I would only squat with a safety bar would i need more pulling volume to compensate the missing hamstring work?
If so, how would I get in the volume efficiently without overtaxing my low back?
I thought about block pulls, RDLs or light Deadlifts?

Thanks in advance

You wouldn’t need to change much to “compensate”, in our opinion, as long as you were still deadlifting. The supplemental movements you describe can be useful to help train the deadlift, but I wouldn’t automatically throw them in just because I changed squat styles.

The differences between these squat patterns in terms of their effect on the hamstrings is pretty small.

Thank you for the quick reply
