RPE clarification

When figuring out my numbers for the day I go by the percentage you indicate for the corresponding RPE. Lately, I’m finding that this does not allow me have 2 in the tank for RPE 8. Rather, they are getting harder and grindy. Am I suppose to be basing my weight selection off of my current estimated 1RM or am I suppose to be undershooting that a bit? For example, 81% for RPE 8 is not leaving me with 2 in the tank anymore. I’m eating 3100 kcal/day. 5’8” 190

You’re supposed to be aiming for RPE 8 = 2 reps in the tank. The percentages are just a guideline to get you in the right ballpark.

I just bought the Beginner Template and I would like a bit more clarification on RPE. Right now, the same weight leaves me with less and less in the tank with each set. For instance, 225lb deadlift on the first set feels like rpe 6, but the next set feels like 7. Should I be taking fatigue into the equation when estimating how much to have on the bar each set? Right now that seems to be me keeping the same weight on the bar with each set and the relative rpe feels like it eventually gets up to 8 for the last 2 sets. OR should I be putting on more weight onto the bar and testing to see if I actually do feel like there’s more left in the tank?
