Sermorelin

I’ve been prescribed sermorelin as my igf 1 levels were 140 (I know that’s not low) but the HRT doc said that it can boost those levels and provide for anti aging benefits (wrinkles, improved muscle tone, hair, skin, nails). I’m 38

Do you guys guys think sermorelin has merit in those areas? It’s a GHRH and has a half life of 10 minutes

This sounds like quackery.

It took my igf 1 levels from 140 to 262, so it works in that regard. I guess my real question is do you think elevated igf 1 levels really improve the aforementioned areas I listed above. Also, how could it keep my igf 1 elevated if it has a 10 minute half life? I did blood work 12 hours post injection and it came in at 262 which is above range in some circles

Of course it did. It’s a GHRH analog, that’s what it’s going to do. But that’s not what quackery means.

I do not have reason to believe so. While it appears to be common among “wellness” and “anti-aging” centers, here is the extent of the available evidence on sermorelin with respect to aging: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/…ncbi_mmode=std .

I am curious why your IGF1 levels were measured in the first place, much less treated in the absence of a real clinical diagnosis where its use would be justified, like growth hormone deficiency.

Probably because the circulating half-life of IGF1 is longer than 10 minutes.

I always thought igf 1 exerted anabolic effects on the body. Does it not?

It is always best to consult a professional. For example in this clinic. I turned to them myself. It’s free
