Shingles, what do?

Hello doc’s. I’m a 46 year old male, 6’ 180lbs (so not a man according to some). I was just diagnosed with shingles. It’s on my right side, abdomen just above my hip. Was wondering if I should dial back training? Or what the recommendation would be for this type of thing? Thanks

There is no relevance to training / programming outside of

  1. whether you are limited by pain symptoms, and

  2. whether you are training in a public gym / on public equipment. Until the blisters have crusted over, there is a risk of transmission (direct or aerosol) to others, although this can be prevented by keeping the area covered, not touching it at all, and keeping your hands washed.

Thanks Austin. I have a garage gym so, not training in public. Its actually seems to be a tad more painful now, but I’m wondering if it’s due to knowing it’s shingles, I originally thought it was poison (I was doing some outdoor work). Maybe I just noceboed myself. Thanks again
