Hey, guys! I am almost 20 and I am a smoker from when I was 15. I am planning to quit but I don’t know how to start. I am sick of chronic coughing, a lot of money spent on cigarettes, and of that nasty cigarette smell which is in all my clothes. Also, I would like to ask you about smoking and the perception of pain, but also the effects of smoking on joint health. I tried to google it, but there are a lot of studies that say different things and I don’t know what to believe. I am asking you because I am sure that you have a larger data than I have.
VeeL,
Thanks for the post and I commend your desire to quit smoking.
As far as your questions:
- Most of the data shows that smoking is a risk factor for pain.
- Smoking anything- including marijuana- is not health-promoting. That said, there are some safe delivery systems that reduce the risk of bad health outcomes, though not everyone responds well to marijuana. I would certainly not recommend starting to smoke marijuana over cigarettes.
- We would recommend seeing your doctor to aid in your smoking cessation process.

Jordan,
Thank you very much for your fast answer! I did not smoke marijuana, ever, just tobacco. I know it is not safer than cigarette smoking. I mean, I don’t think that human body is disigned to inhale any type of smoke. I’ll definetly consult the doc to help me to quit smoking. Thank you, again! Have an awesome day!

Hi. I also smoked for a long time, and at one point decided to quit. Some people say that you need to quit gradually, but I quit right away. I just stopped Smoking and threw out everything that connected me with Smoking, cigarettes, lighters, tobacco, etc. And Yes, Smoking has a very serious impact on health, not only on the lungs but also on other organs. It’s no wonder you’re not feeling well.
It makes a difference what you smoke. If you use grass, it is unlikely that it affects the joints. If it’s a regular cigarette, it affects everything.
From my experience, I can say that smoking harms all systems of the body. Unfortunately, a simple bad habit has caused bone and joint disease. The disease can appear suddenly and develop very quickly, so detecting it in its early stages is important.
From my experience, I can say that smoking harms all systems of the body.
Apologies for reviving this old thread, but I’d like to give my two cents. I completely understand where you’re coming from. I used to be a smoker myself, but I managed to quit and transitioned to low-nicotine vaping. It was a game-changer for me! It helped me satisfy my cravings while gradually reducing my nicotine intake.
I understand the struggle with chronic coughing and that lingering cigarette smell – it’s not pleasant at all. As for smoking’s impact on joint health, there’s indeed a lot of conflicting information out there.
It’s great that you’re considering quitting smoking—recognizing that it’s time to make a change is a big first step. To start out, you might want to set a quit date and consider talking to a healthcare professional about support options like counseling or nicotine replacement therapies. It can help to have someone to guide you through it!
I know it’s been a while, but it can be such a mixed bag. Some folks love it for the chill vibes, while others have concerns, especially about health.
