Safety of medical marijuana smoking in oppose to vaporization

A friend of mine, who smoke medical cannabis, send me some citations, about safety of cannabis smoking of lungs health. Could you relate to these two ones:

He thinks that smoking is safe, and although his doctor recommend him to vaporize medical cannabis, he decided to smoke it. How can I change his mind in this case?

We don’t have a lot of evidence to go on here. There are some data on marijuana use and various respiratory symptoms/lung function ( Marijuana Use, Respiratory Symptoms, and Pulmonary Function: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis - PubMed ), but we do not have strong evidence linking it to the development of obstructive lung disease or lung cancer, for example.

The other part of your question is “how can I change his mind”, which may not be the right way to go about this anyway.

Although the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana is still a controversial issue, it doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t know more about this plant. It has been used in medicine for thousands of years, and now it’s possible to use it legally.

Your friend is certainly entitled to his opinion, but you might want to share with him some of the research that has been done on the effects of smoking cannabis on the lungs.

I think you shouldn’t change your friend’s mind. He has the right to do what he does.

Hi! thanks for thread

Marijuana relaxes the body and reduces stress and tension. I prefer smoking marijuana rather than vaporizing it.

Hey man, I hear you on your friend sticking to his smoking ways. It’s worth having a chat with him about it. You should definitely show him those studies; they’re a good read.

One approach could be to provide your friend with factual information about the potential risks of smoking cannabis. You could explain that smoking anything, including cannabis, can lead to respiratory problems and lung damage. In contrast, vaporizing medical cannabis can be a safer alternative because it doesn’t involve burning the plant material.

It’s a great topic you’ve brought up.

When it comes to the safety of medical marijuana, it’s essential to consider the different methods of consumption.
Vaporization does seem to have some advantages in terms of avoiding the potential risks associated with smoking. It’s good to see people exploring these options for health reasons.

The citations your friend provided offer valuable insights into the potential effects of cannabis smoking on lung health. The study published in JAMA suggests that long-term cannabis smoking may be associated with adverse respiratory outcomes. Additionally, the article from ScienceDaily highlights the potential harmful effects of cannabis smoke on the lungs.

It’s a tough situation when a friend believes smoking is safe despite medical advice to vaporize.

Well, vaporizing is generally considered better for lung health because it reduces the harmful byproducts of combustion. Maybe you could share some articles or studies showing the benefits of vaporization over smoking?
