Strange shin/calf tightness and pain

Hi,

I have this strange shin and calf tightness and pain going on. I’m having a real hard time understanding it. It’s always in the left shin/calf. The pain and tightness moves between the calf and shin depending on what I’m doing. If I’m following SS it’s always in the lateral part of the calf and I have difficulty with dorsiflexion. If I do weighted crunches it will move to the shin and I have difficulty with plantarflexion.

I’ve been dealing with this, to varying degrees, for about two years.

This last summer I started doing an LP and moved up in weight and the symptoms got worse.

I have tried to research this and have not found anything like it. I realize this is probably not something easily diagnosed over the web but even a pointer to the right kind of medical professional that could help with this would be a big help.

I’m not sure what this is, sorry. Our rehab guys may be able to help via online consultation, but it sounds quite unusual.

This certainly sounds like a load management issue such as tendinopathy. People can develop such symptoms via peroneal tendinopathies. Anecdotally, I’ve seen a few of these cases with cyclists and runners.
