Template novice progression

Hi,

I ordered the template bundle the other day. I am currently in week 5 of my linear progression that I am plugging in to your template as week 2 because it matched up with press being on day one. I hadn’t previously been doing chin-ups and I maybe also had a light start on the novice progression as I had poor technique and history of injury so I think this works well. I hope I’m not doubling up but I couldn’t find the answer in a search. My question is as I move forward do I wait to make the switch in programming that occurs between week 6 and week 7 until I am struggling to add weight or just follow the plan as it is described? I heard on the podcast that you are not a big fan of over extending novice progression but wasn’t sure whether the idea was to only make it a 12 week plan and move on to intermediate or when progression slows to have the last 6 weeks of the plan as the transition to intermediate?

Cheers

Nick

Hey Nick,

I think it really depends on the exact situation and it’s not entirely clear to me what we’re working with here. That said, I think you can repeat weeks 3-6 one time and then go on as planned.

Jordan,

Thanks for the reply. I keep on alternating between the feeling that my novice progression will last for ages longer yet and oh my god how am I going to lift heavier then this in 2 days time, probably based more on time of day for training and whatever else happening in my life that impacts on training energy. Will see what it feels like when I hit week 6 in a few weeks time.

Thanks again

Nick
