Tempo squats for volume

Hello;

Jordan, in some previous IG live feed, you’ve mentioned that tempo squats are good for accumulating volume. Could you (or anyone) elaborate on this?
My thinking is: intensity is low; time under tension is long(er) than regular reps. Thus, tempo squats provide more volume over same amount of sets, reps and on same intensity than non-tempo squats. Right?

In your experience, would you program them to also enforce good technique? And, more importantly, how much more difficult is it to recover from a set of tempo squats compared to normal squats?

Thanks in advance!

What would you like me to expand on exactly?

You can accumulate sets and reps with tempo squats in a more useful manner than doing, say, heavy doubles for instance.

I do think they can help in technique issues, yes. I do not think it is any harder to recover from tempo squats than normal squats if both are the same level of difficulty.

Hey, thanks!

What I wanted you to expand on is if a set of tempo squats can provide more volume then a same set of regular squats (or any other exercise). A follow up, could same logic be applied to paused sets?

We strictly define “volume” as the number of working reps, so no.

Alright. Thanks docs!
